As we were mentioning in the title, this week it has been announced probably the most awaited news for this summer. The date of the program merger for SPG, Marriot and Ritz Carlton into one program has been announced for August 18th, like this being one step closer to completing the merger. There are some ups and downs to the merger so if exploited the redemption power can be maximized (like booking travel before Aug 18th at properties that are expected to go up on their category, therefore the points that will be used will increase or wait to book your hotel after Aug 18th for properties that are expected to be downgraded according to the new program).
The three elite programs will become one. So connect your programs before this time.

•You can still transfer points between your Rewards and SPG® accounts through August 17.
August 18
One program goes live.*
•Enjoy new benefits and new Elite status levels.
•Redeem for stays with the new Free Night Award Chart.
•Start earning points on all eligible hotel charges, including food, drinks, spa and more.
First day to combine accounts.
•Combine your Rewards and SPG accounts into one to add up your points and Elite-nights balances. Then you'll have one profile and one account going forward.
*A temporary outage of the informatic systems and sites on August 18, will be expected, while launching the new member experience.
